So. Saturday. I got up at a very cheery 6am to go to take my SATs! Which were really lame, as expected, and I was pretty sure that they were a really big waste of my time. If for nothing more than the fact that I'm gonna go to TCC for the first two years out and then transfer in to Earlham or something. Or nothing? I don't know and it really doesn't matter. Because after sitting in that room for five hours I got out. And the first thing I see when I walk out of the building is Shannon, sitting on the brick wall to the patio. And then it kind of clicked that we'd be going to see Despa. I got all excited and what not and then we went back to my house. Hung around and called Joe ♥ and he was like "I'll be over soon so you can help me with my Japanese." So Shannon and I went to the Dollar Tree to get fishnets, except my mom sent us to the dumb one so they didn't have them and I ended up buying us glowsticks instead.
Back at my house we hung around until Joe came over. I got to make fun of him because he keeps getting is question words mixed up (but they can't even say why yet, for whatever reason). Eventually he got sick of me making fun of him so Shannon and I went upstairs to change and left him downstairs with my parents all alone! :x But he was okay and when we came downstairs he made a comment I figured that he would "Wow, I look underdressed." But that was okay because I kissed my parents goodbye and we went to Walgreens (sp?) because I had to get a disposable camera that would put the pictures on d-i-s-k so I can put them in this thing. And then we drove the hour out to Va Beach and arrived promptly at 5pm. Yes, when the doors were supposed to open at 7pm and the show started at 8:30pm. We're only slightly insane.
We went inside and Joe got frenchfries. Shannon and I got all excited and didn't eat because we really didn't want to wretch all over the place out of excitement. SO THEN! Shannon went and hit on Harry from Jpop House. Because this other girl who did it did a really bad job and she had to upstage her. Which she did an excellent job of, by the way, because Harry even tripped over the chair >.>; and then walked all the way across the Restaurant to tell us someone thought despa's name was The Sky is Grey and then he laughed. Somewhere in there he told Shann how it was Tsukasa's dream to skydive so they all went skydiving. OH! That was after she was like "Did you know you're georgous?" and he was like "No, I probably look like shit" and then talked about skydiving. Yeah, Harry, because in the time between 1pm and 5pm you didn't have time to look good again.
So they kicked us out of the restaurant not a minute after Joe had finished eating because we'd "been there for too long" and we had to go wait in line. And we were like 12th or something like that and had been there longer than everyone. And how can we stand in front of Zero if we're not at the front of the line? Simple. Send Shannon to hit on everyone. Line was... long. From about 6 or so until almost 8. We danced (and for the DVD they videotaped the line, while we were dancing) and made friends with the people behind us. Nih, this black lesbian, and her friends. And the only reason I remember Nih's name is because she wrote both it and her e-mail on my arm in black Sharpie after the show.
Waiting in line... waiting in line... And this guy needs someone to hold the door open for Trash Light Vision (who I call Flashlight Vision because it's funny) and Shannon, of course, oblidges. After a while Harry makes her close the door because Despa is soundchecking and that's just not kosher. So the drummer (who she also hit on while doing this) asked something like "Where in the fuck is my door holder?" and there goes Shannon to the rescue! The guy tells us that if we don't get where we want to stand to just come around to the side door and he'll let us in there.
FINALLY! The line starts moving to let us inside. Bouncy happy squealing later and we're inside, standing right in front of where Zero will be in about three hours from that point. Due to the fact that all of the people in front of us would rather stand in front of Hizumi but we don't have a problem with that. Until later, anyways. So there's a hell of a lot more standing around before the first band, old punk legends and friends The Unabombers get on. And they sucked monkey balls for the sheer fact that they had no stage presence whatsoever.
Then Trash Light Vision got on and got the crowd (all 30 of us XD) worked up. And they did an awesome job and the guitarist stole Shannon's hat to wear but that was okay because he was really hot. And the vocalist like pushed him on the ground and spilled water on him and used his tie like a leash to make him sing in to the mic. And all together, Trash Light Vision just puts on an awesome show SO IF ANYONE KNOWS THEY'RE PLAYING NEAR THEM GO SEE THEM. It'll be well worth the money. Not to mention the the vocalist has a jacket that says Volume over Talent really big in the center of an American flag.
edited in: The vocalist was talking about how Despa had more heart than any other band they'd ever played with and that it was an honour to get to play with them. And was all "I don't think the D'espairs Ray guys heard you back in their bus, do it again" and we screamed our asses off. So later he was like "Virginia Beach, I want the fans back in Japan to know how much ass Virginia Beach fucking kicks so on three, scream" and we did. And he was surprised how loud it was. So much so that he didn't even have to tell us to do it again because we weren't being loud enough or something.
So we waited again for what seemed like forever before we turned at the exact moment that Despa's tour bus drives up to the door and we get all excited again. Only it takes another million years before they come on (literally, it was like 10pm before they got on stage). Out comes Tsukasa as the sacrifice because the two Asian stage-hands and one white guy couldn't get his kit set up right. So instead of using the drum key Tsukasa's all "I can do it with my drumsticks, watch!" and does it. And he was trying not to smile when we all got excited and the girls next to us screamed "We love you Tsukasa!" and he kinda smiled. And then he looked at us and we waved, so he looked away and then back. When we were still waving he smiled, saluted, and then waved back. Tsukasa is my second-favourite member now because of how awesome he was.
Then the rest of Despa took the stage. Karyu came out second but stopped so Zero got on stage before he did and then Karyu got on stage and then Hizumi (the poor guy had an ear infection!) got onstage. And the show started off with Born and everyone was so in to it that it was fucking crazy. I took lots of pictures, which I'll post as soon as I get them developed. I don't remember the set list, but I know what songs they played. Just not in which order. Mary of the Blood was third and everyone in the crowd went fucking nutz over it. You could see the shock on their faces that the white kids knew the words to the songs.
Zero spit on us (yay) and into Shannon's mouth twice. We got Zero's picks (which is so awesome) and the girls next to us on the left grabbed his ass. Which wasn't cool because he almost fell over. And the girls on our right did all but rape Hizumi which pissed me off but hey, what can you do? I coulda beat them up but I might've gotten kicked out and I didn't want that. During the intermission (which was like twenty minutes long) there was no point where at least five people weren't chanting "D'espairsRay" and clapping along with it.
They came back out and Hizumi talked and everyone cheered and threw fists in to the air and then they played again. Zero felt the need to kick his mic stand at us twice, but that was okay because he's Zero and just kicks so much ass that anything is forgivable. The third to the last song was Gärnet and during the part where they chant "no" the whole place was chanting. And Hizumi, much like Kyo, has that hand/eye fettish thing.
So then the show was over and they got in their bus and drove to the alley back behind The Jewish Mother. It took us an hour to get out of there. During which time Shannon told this girl dressed as Kaoru that her cosplay sucked, bought stuff (yes, they do sell underwear as merch), and got Nih's number/e-mail/aim. And we went to the parking lot.
In the parking lot I couldn't find anything in my purse and I was swearing up a storm for the sheer fact that I couldn't fathom all that had happened, how awesome it was. And I was really sore and tired and it was midnight already. I went to the dumpster only to not throw anything away because my purse ripped and I was pissed off. I took pictures of the parking lot. So I'm in the car and I'm smoking a cigarette. And there, on top of the bus, were the guys of Despa. Out of their stage clothes and drinking. Which made me laugh. So I scream "We fucking love you guys" out the window and burnt my cheek with my cigarette. Zero, the adorable kid he is, waved. So Shannon got out of the car and walked over to the bus and screamed Zero's name. He looked around and she held up the camera, and all the guys waved as she took their picture. And as we were leaving everyone else felt the need to go see them on top of their bus too.
The ride home seemed to take a lot less time than it should have otherwise. We blared Despa and got all fangirly. Even Joe who, on the ride there, confessed to being an old prude. Which goes to show you because during the show he was getting all in to it and during the space between Trash Light Vision and Despa he even did the hip/butt-bump thing with me. Which made me smile too. So we dropped him off at his house and went to Wendy's (with thoughts of Despa and then Trish + JubbyJubJubster in our hearts) and ordered Frosties. Or Frostys. Whatever.
Went home, fangirled to my parents. Got in bed and ate our frosties and at about 1:30am went to sleep. Got woken up at 7:15am by my neice Liberty (who loved my Despa shirt) and she loved Shannon to death as well. We went on a walk with her and my mom made us breakfast. Then we went to the beach and walked/skipped rocks for what seemed like forever before deciding to go to the zoo. Which was awesome because we got in for free and got to see all the aminals (yes, aminals) and even JOE! Who was the sole purpose why we'd gone in the first place. And we scared the hell out of him but that was okay because he loves us and we got free drinks. Then we went down to Waterside and walked around and saw all the boats and road the Ferry. Then we went home and had dinner. Ended up getting to sleep at about 11pm. I got up at 5:30am to go to school but ended up coming back from the bus stop and not going in. Which was okay because I only had AP English.
We went to MacArthur mall and walked around for a long time. They were getting ready for Christmas there. Which was pretty scary but that was okay. Then we went back to my house and wrote notes, watched TV, and RPed all at the same time. Fun times. Then she left at about 4:15pm or so. Which was sad. And I hung around and ended up going to bed at like 7:30 or so and sleeping until 8:30 this morning.
And that was my weekend.
One of the best of my life.
